Poetry as Witness

I would like to engage in a discussion of ideas motivated by the writings of Elie Wiesel and Harold Bloom around the notion of "poetry as witness". "Witness" is a prevailing theme of Wiesel's work. Bloom places poetry in a middle realm never quite touching truth and meaning. Wandering somewhere between these views is a conversation waiting to happen. Let's have one.

Note: This is not a reading session or a workshop. It is intended as a facilitated discussion. Familiarity with Wiesel's and Bloom's writings is not a prerequisite - only a willingness to share your point of view.

Session Category:
poetry
