Building a Platform in the 21st Century
Every writer knows the catch-22: you need an agent to sell a book, but you need a platform (an audience) to get an agent, yet to build that platform you must sell books. This dreaded cycle is even worse for unknown writers of literary fiction who are trying to break through the "dreary" (it isn't!) 21st century fiction market. In this session, a POD published writer with an Ivy-League MFA will explain his platform-building strategy and reassure those writers who might be concerned about the "stigma" surrounding the phrase "self-published book". He'll present POD not only as a viable alternative to sending to slush piles, but will also make an argument for POD as an ideal model for writers of literary fiction.
